Habitat for Humanity comes to Loretto TN
A ground breaking ceremony was held on Vine Circle in Loretto TN on Sunday, October 18th for the first ever Habitat For Humanity home in my home town. The photo at left shows some of the first progress that has been made with the foundation. The first truckload of materials is scheduled for delivery on October 27th and the Smith family is understandably excited.
This project has been in the works for some time, but I am relatively new to the party. I was recommended for and agreed to be the local Superintendent of the project. I’m excited about the opportunity to help out in this way, but also a bit nervous. My job will be to keep the volunteers working efficiently. Some of the volunteers are amateur builders and some are professional contractors. It’s very important that when these folks show up to do a job that there’s something for them to do so I’m taking the position seriously.
I intend to post here as the project unfolds so this is only the first installment. At the end I’ll put together a virtual tour.
